The squad's biggest engine, Russo is a Lyon-born ex-cyclo-cross champion who spent six seasons in Brittany with Arkéa before joining Groupama-FDJ in 2024. With no pure sprinter selected, the powerful 31-year-old rouleur gets a free role as the team's finisher on the flat stages, when he isn't dragging the tricolore train across crosswind-swept plains or launching into the day's break, as he did to combative effect at the 2024 Tour.

Palmarès

  • Vuelta a la Comunidad de Madrid GC winner (2019)
  • Tour de France stage 5 combativity award (2024)
  • French U23 cyclo-cross champion (2015, 2016)
  • French junior cyclo-cross champion (2012, 2013)
Cut-out factBefore turning to the road he was a serial French cyclo-cross champion, taking national junior titles in 2012 and 2013 and U23 titles in 2015 and 2016.
