Juan Manuel Hernandez

The manager of Spain's green ProTeam, carrying a development-and-breakaway identity into a rare Tour spotlight.

Juan Manuel Hernandez leads Caja Rural-Seguros RGA, one of Spain's most recognisable ProTeam projects. The team has long functioned as a bridge between the Spanish domestic scene and the biggest European races, giving riders a path to Grand Tours without the budget of a WorldTour superstructure.

A Tour de France invitation changes the team's scale of exposure. Caja Rural cannot control the race and does not need to. Its job is to place riders in breakaways, chase mountain days, and make the green jersey visible enough that sponsors and young riders both see a future.

Hernandez's management challenge is therefore clarity. With no illusion of GC control, every rider must know which stages are realistic, when to gamble, and how to turn one good day into the team's whole Tour story.

Why it mattersFor Caja Rural, the Tour is a megaphone; Hernandez decides what the team says with it.
